There is a story behind every Mewali wrapper.

For Mewali Durian, that story begins with a scene full of movement—musicians carrying their instruments, performers gathered together, and a Barong standing boldly at the center of it all.

Inspired by the visual language of Balinese culture, the illustration brings together elements that feel familiar yet full of character. The expressive Barong, traditional costumes, instruments, and temple architecture create a lively scene that feels almost as if it could come alive beyond the wrapper.

Barong is more than a striking figure in Balinese culture. It is part of a long tradition of storytelling through performance, where music, movement, and visual expression come together. That sense of storytelling became the inspiration behind the artwork on Mewali Durian.

We wanted the packaging to feel like more than something that holds a chocolate bar.

It is a small window into a culture—colorful, expressive, and full of stories.

The artwork is intentionally rich with details, inviting you to look a little closer each time. From the performers and their instruments to the bold patterns framing the illustration, every part contributes to its lively character.

And perhaps that is what makes it a fitting wrapper for Durian.

The flavor itself has a personality that is difficult to overlook. Bold, distinctive, and instantly recognizable, durian is one of those tastes that needs no introduction.
